• Mount Pleasant District History Room

Located in Mount Pleasant's Soldiers' Memorial Hall, the History Room contains a collection of archives and photographs relating to the previous Mount Pleasant District Council region, and includes the townships of Palmer, Tungkillo, Mount Pleasant, Springton and Eden Valley.

Mount Pleasant District History Room was officially opened by Mr Angus McLachlan on 19 November 2006, the 80th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the Soldiers  Memorial Hall.  It is funded by the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall and Main Street Committee, a Section 41 Committee of the Barossa Council.

The collection covers the previous Mount Pleasant District Council region, and includes the townships of Palmer, Tungkillo, Mount Pleasant, Springton and Eden Valley. The Mount Pleasant District Council area is still the emphasis of the collection, although the township of Mount Pleasant is now included in the Barossa Council.  The collection has been sorted and stored in archive quality folders and boxes, and a large collection of photographs has been added to, with generous donations from people with an interest in the district and families who settled in the Mount Pleasant area.

The Mount Pleasant History Group participates in the History Trust’s South Australia’s History Festival each May.
